Zenith
Model 12-U-159, 1937. This
model uses the same 12-tube chassis as the 12-U-158,
but adds a woofer and tweeter sound reproduction system
and a much
more ornate cabinet. The additional features added $25.00
to the price for a total of $175.00. This radio
has the Zenith logo printed on the dial, which is the
more common variation (see 12-U-158). If you couldn't
afford any of the three Stratosphere models above this
set and still wanted a "top of the line" radio,
this was the Zenith console radio for you! The dial on
this set and its little brother, the 12-U-158, is massive. It
measures nearly 10-inches in diameter, almost the same
size as the model 1000Z Stratosphere.
