Zenith Model 970, 1935.  Zenith introduced a range of 900 series models which they referred to as a way to "pep up midseason radio sales (form 119, large dealer poster)."  This model features a 9-tube Superheterodyne chassis,  Triple Filtering, "Exceptionally beautiful cabinet of moderne influence", Two 8-inch dynamic speakers, Four wave bands covering 545-20,500 kilocycles.  The sales literature describes this console as "amazingly powerful and "faithful in tone."  This model employed the same cabinet as the 740 and 760 from the 1934 Challenger line.  Zenith added a new escutcheon to handle the new "white dial" chassis.  Retail price:  $129.95.
