Zenith Model 15-U-270, 1938.  From this model forward, the 15-tube cabinets started getting more exquisite and more expensive.  This entire line uses the 1501 chassis, but this model and the 15-U-271, with a mahogany cabinet, are the only ones that utilize two speakers, a 12” woofer and a 6” tweeter.  Many of the surviving 15-U-270’s suffer from cracking burl on the curved areas on each side of the dial.  This console was priced at $225.00 and the mahogany version was $10 more.
